Watch Acceptance Policy

At Tim Tells Time, I specialize exclusively in the restoration of American pocket watches. My goal is to preserve the originality, reliability, and historical integrity of every watch entrusted to my care.

Because every watch is unique, all service requests are evaluated before a watch is accepted for restoration.

Initial Evaluation

Before shipping your watch, please submit a Service Estimate Request through my website, including clear photographs of:

* The front (dial) of the watch
* The movement

These photographs allow me to perform a preliminary evaluation and determine whether your watch is a suitable candidate for restoration.

Submission of a Service Estimate Request does not guarantee acceptance for restoration.

Watches Accepted

I currently accept:

* American pocket watches
* Watches that are substantially complete
* Watches that are suitable candidates for mechanical restoration

Watches Not Accepted

I do not accept:

* Swiss pocket watches
* Vintage wristwatches
* Modern wristwatches
* Quartz watches

Evaluation Criteria

Every watch is carefully evaluated based on its overall condition, originality, and the likelihood of achieving a reliable, historically appropriate restoration.

A watch may be declined if it exhibits one or more of the following:

* Extensive non-original or incorrect replacement parts
* Significant modifications or alterations to the movement
* Missing or irreparably damaged critical components
* Evidence of previous repairs that compromise the reliability or integrity of the movement
* Damage requiring extensive reconstruction or custom fabrication beyond the scope of a traditional restoration

My objective is not simply to make a watch run, but to restore it properly while preserving its historical integrity whenever possible.

One Watch at a Time

To ensure every customer receives the highest level of workmanship and attention to detail, I accept only one restoration at a time.

This approach allows every watch to receive my complete focus throughout the restoration process rather than becoming one of many projects waiting on a bench.

Right to Decline Service

I reserve the right to decline any watch that falls outside my area of specialization or cannot be restored to a standard that reflects the quality of workmanship I strive to provide.

Thank you for your understanding and for trusting Tim Tells Time with your American pocket watch restoration.
